Player Change Now Date
Reche Caldwell NA 09-03-07
Caldwell was released by the Pats today and removed from the rankings.
Player Change Now Date
Assorted Cuts NA 09-01-07
Courtney Roby and Mike Walker were released today as a part of the 53 man roster purge.
Player Change Now Date
Assorted Cuts NA 09-01-07
Keenan McCardell and Billy McMullen were released by their teams and removed from the rankings.
Player Change Now Date
Patrick Crayton 55 08-31-2007
Crayton is the only young wideout for the Cowboys that will get much playing time and with Glenn already questionable for week one with a knee condition and Owens seemingly always due to miss a game or two, Crayton will get several starts before the season is over.
Player Change Now Date
Terry Glenn 35 08-31-2007
Glenn's knee is still an issue and he may not be ready by week one. At his age, healing quickly just doesn't happen anymore.
Player Change Now Date
Chris Chambers 23 08-30-2007
Chambers was reportedly shopped around for a trade which is not likely to happen but he drops a few spots because HC Cam Cameron appears intent on putting question marks onto the few offensive players that matter in Miami.
Player Change Now Date
Mark Clayton 25 08-30-2007
Clayton has an ankle sprain that likely won't be healed by week one. Clayton claims that he will play regardless if it is ready but he drops a few spots from what could be a slow start.
Player Change Now Date
Demetrius Williams 48 08-30-2007
Williams has taken over the #2 role from Derrick Mason in Baltimore and has impressed the coaching staff. He merits an increase.
Player Change Now Date
Derrick Mason 63 08-30-2007
Mason has been moved to the slot and will not have as many catches as the #3 in Baltimore.
Player Change Now Date
Anthony Mix 107 08-28-2007
The 6'5" undrafted rookie wideout looks very likely to make the final roster and with the injuries to Burress, the also tall Mix is being used as a replacement in the preseason. Too early to jump on this bandwagon but he should make the team as an undrafted rookie and that's a major accomplishment in itself.
Player Change Now Date
Plaxico Burress 16 08-28-2007
Burress takes a small tumble in the rankings because he continues to suffer injuries and has not been able to practice or play. Burress has had ankle sprains and the flu and a bad back and now the back is flaring up again. He carries more risk this year.
Player Change Now Date
Torry Holt 8 08-27-2007
Holt falls a few spots with the news that his knee is bothering him from back when he had surgery in January. The joint has swollen and prevented Holt from playing in a preseason game. The Rams are taking it easy with Holt who may still not be 100% by the start of the season. Holt already saw a major decline in his production last year when the offense was finally installed and running to form.
Player Change Now Date
Randy Moss 15 08-27-2007
Moss tumbles a couple of spots because he hasn't been able to practice with Brady due to a hamstring issue. The Pats still contend that Moss will be ready for the start of the season but there is just more risk with Moss not practicing with his new team and new quarterback while nursing yet another hamstring strain. Big upside here but equally troubling risk.
Player Change Now Date
Wes Welker 60 08-27-2007
Welker needed a bump up because he's looked very sharp and had glowing reviews by Patriot coaches. It is still the Pats and Brady is not about to lock onto Welker for 100 catches this year, but Welker has been as cconsistency impressive in the passing game as any other wideout.
Player Change Now Date
Jacoby Jones 55 08-27-2007
The rookie is really challenging Kevin Walter for the starting spot across from Andre Johnson and appears to have won it with impressive play. He is still a rookie and Walter will not disappear, but Jones has definitely bought himself some playing time with his actions in camp and in games.
Player Change Now Date
Steve Smith 2 08-24-2007
Smith falls from the top spot to the #2 mostly because no clear-cut #2 has emerged from Drew Carter, Keary Colbert or Dwayne Jarrett. He will still get a ton of passes and could easily remain the #1 wideout, but the lack of a credible #2 so far means Chad Johnson is a better risk.
Player Change Now Date
Donald Driver 13 08-24-2007
Driver injured his foot and until more is known, he is dropped a spot. Be aware of the prognosis if you intend on drafting Driver.
Player Change Now Date
James Jones 55 08-24-2007
If preseason play was the only thing that mattered, Jones would be a top five wideout this year. He has looked awesome the past two weeks and had six catches for 80 yards against the Jaguars in the first half. He also lost a fumble and had other problems running routes so he is not "there" yet. But he will definitely figure into the season and is a spark of excitement that Greg Jennings wishes would go away.
Player Change Now Date
Dennis Northcutt 56 08-24-2007
Northcutt is slated to be a starter in JAX this year and while he will lack the week to week consistency, it's pretty obvious in camp and preseason games that the Jaguards are enamored with Northcutt's deep play ability.
Player Change Now Date
Jacksonville wideouts NA 08-21-2007
The receivers in Jacksonville remain in flux and assuming that the same Matt Jones and Reggie Williams are back this year is wrong. For now Dennis Northcutt and Ernest Wilford are the starters and Reggie Williams is dropping very fast. Matt Jones still figures in but the roles are still undefined and therefore risky to rely on.
Player Change Now Date
Jacoby Jones 87 08-21-2007
The rookie is shining in Houston and has already bought himself playing time this year. There is still a chance he could move up to be the #2 since Kevin Walter has not been very impressive.
Player Change Now Date
Greg Jennings 63 08-20-2007
Jennings is publicly grousing about not being used in training camp and preseason and has taken a backseat to James Jones in the eyes of the coaching staff. Jennings started out last year well but faded and now it appears that Jones is the new hot rookie.
Player Change Now Date
James Jones 57 08-20-2007
Jones rises because not only has he been a training camp star, but he has carried that into the preseason when he caught four passes for 58 yards and two scores against the Seahawks. He will get playing time this year and could be the #2 wideout in week one.
Player Change Now Date
Robert Ferguson NR 08-17-2007
Ferguson will either be dropped by the Packers or traded to another team. Either way, his stock this year means do not touch.
Player Change Now Date
James Jones 73 08-17-2007
Slides up with Robert Ferguson now safely out of the way. Jones has looked very good in training camp and is making moves to have some significance this season.
Player Change Now Date
Jacksonville wideouts NA 08-15-2007
Numerous changes to the Jaguars wideouts since the coaching staff is reviewing who will be starting. Reggie Williams has fallen from favor yet again and Ernest Wilford was looking good but has been injured a bit. Expect these to change even more before the season begins but there is risk in assuming no ranking changes for JAX wideouts between now and the start of the season.
Player Change Now Date
Atlanta wideouts NA 08-15-2007
The Falcons are playing around with their starting lineups as well which had included moving Michael Jenkins to a slot role in practice and Roddy White has been filling the #2 across from Joe Horn. White has been very impressive in camp but is being pushed a little by rookie Laurent Robinson who is also having a nice preseason. The new coaching staff have no ties to the past and with Vick gone and Crumpler hurt, these wideouts could be quite different from last year when it was mainly Jenkins and sometimes White standing around watching Vick run or throw to Crumpler.
Player Change Now Date
Carolina wideouts NA 08-15-2007
The Panthers are still working on the #2 spot vacated by Keyshawn Johnson. Drew Carter has been penciled in as the starter but he's not had all golden moments this summer and the rookie Dwayne Jarrett could be angling for the role at least sometime this season if not by the start. This position is still not cemented.
Player Change Now Date
New England wideouts NA 08-15-2007
A little swapping around of players here since Stallworth - yes, really - has been hurt and not practicing and Wes Welker has looked good as has Reche Caldwell. This will be a very difficult call no matter what givent he complex "spread it around" scheme of the Patriots anyway.
Player Change Now Date
Assorted Players NA 08-15-2007
Ton of changes to the wideout depths as this is the time that teams are shuffling their players around and trying to find what works best. The wideouts likely to be all the fantasy starters are not affected since they are not playing that much anyway and have cemented their jobs already but the positional depth and in some cases the slot role is still up for grabs and changing.
Player Change Now Date
Devin Hester 63 08-05-07
Hester is practicing at wideout and looking every bit as good as he did as a punt returner. While most players that switch from defense to wideout like this get little playing time and make no fantasy mark, this time it appears that Hester will have a role on the offense that is only balanced by the need to keep him healthy for the special teams play. It is still a risk and there are only so many passes to be thrown in Chicago though and Muhammad and Berrian will still get the most as the starters. But Hester devalues both Mark Bradley and Rashied Davis.
Player Change Now Date
Craig Davis 59 08-05-07
The rookie is looking great in camp and with Eric Parker gone until week six of the season, the door is open for Davis to take a starting role across from Vincent Jackson.
Player Change Now Date
Eric Parker 113 08-05-07
Parker underwent surgery on the big toe of his right foot and is expected to miss ten weeks while he recuperates. He is not expected back until week six of the regular season and likely will have lost his starting job for good by then.
Player Change Now Date
Calvin Johnson 30 08-05-07
Johnson has signed a $64 million, six-year deal and has shown up to camp without missing much at all. The outlook for the hottest rookie wideout in years is more than a little promising in a Mike Martz offense and he's already lining up as a starter.
Player Change Now Date
Eric Moulds 95 07-27-07
Moulds joins the Titans who have a huge need for a veteran but Moulds impact will be much more lockeroom than endzone. Moulds is 34 years old now and already had an almost invisible season in Houston last year. He'll be in the mix but he won't reprise the success he had in his previous 11 years.
Player Change Now Date
Keenan McCardell 92 07-27-07
McCardell joins the Texans which is interesting since Eric Moulds already flopped there last year and he's three years younger than McCardell. This is the one year deal just to add some receiving depth and could have some minimal impact on the other wideouts besides Andre Johnson.
Player Change Now Date
Michael Jenkins 28 07-18-07
The indictment of Michael Vick today increases the chance that Jenkins will get playing time with another quarterback who can connect with the wide receivers. Jenkins will be the biggest beneficiary of any switch from Vick to Harrington and deserves to be considered more favorably now.
Player Change Now Date
Joe Horn 57 07-18-07
Horn gets a minor bump up thanks to the Vick situation. He's already playing out his NFL swan song this year and has diminished skills and durability but any change away from Vick will help all the wideouts.
Player Change Now Date
Roddy White 72 07-18-07
Same as Horn and Jenkins, White should be the #3 this year until Horn gets hurt and his production will be helped if Harrington takes over.
