Prediction: HOU 13, TEN 24

The Titans won 38-36 in week seven in this match-up despite Sage Rosenfels leading a furious fourth quarter comeback. But the Titans were far ahead and nearly got caught with the Texans posting four late scores to make it look like a shoot-out. The Texans are better this time with a healthier cast but are only 2-4 on the road while the Titans are on a three game losing streak and looking for a win.

WR Andre Davis   40
WR Kevin Walter   50
PK Kris Brown 2 FG 1 XP
Pregame Notes: The Texans have made strides in the passing game this year but placing their bets on Ahman Green was even worse than expected. Add in a schedule that is brutal to end the year and the offensive numbers will likely decline with TEN, TB, DEN, IND and JAC left to play. As if that is not enough, OC Mike Sherman just accepted the HC job at Texas A&M. There is promise for the future but this should start the decline of the Texans for this year.

Quarterback: Matt Schaub passed for only 23 yards in the first meeting against the Titans before handing over to Sage Rosenfels who went nuts with 290 yards and four scores almost entirely in the fourth quarter. But Schaub has been far better since returning two weeks ago which coincided with the return of Andre Johnson. Schaub threw for two touchdowns in each game and had over 250 yards in each. He'll present a much better challenge for the Titans this week.

Running Backs: It appears that Ahman Green will start this week since his knee refuses to get any better so why not? But it is also likely that he doesn't finish the game so all he will do is decrease whatever Ron Dayne could have done by himself. Green has posted pathetic numbers since week two if he has even played. At least Dayne has logged around 80+ rushing yards in each of the last three games.

Green only gained 39 yards on 11 carries against the visiting Titans in week seven.

Wide Receivers: While it was expected that Andre Johnson would cease to turn in 100+ yard games at some point, catching only three passes for 37 yards in Cleveland was the most unlikely spot for him to see a decrease. The attention paid to Johnson allowed Kevin Walter to score once on his six catches for 65 yards and that was far better than any other game for Walter with Johnson around. Andre Davis now mans the slot and settles around 50 yards in games.

Walter ended with a team high six catches for 97 yards and a score in the first meeting with the Titans. Andre Davis also scored and had four receptions for 88 yards.

Tight Ends: Owen Daniels has been solid this year with yardage and the return of Schaub two weeks ago has seen Daniels gain 74 and 82 yards in those matchups with his first score of the year last week. Daniels is always decent but with Schaub becomes worthy of a fantasy start. That should continue with a tough schedule looming.

Daniels only had 20 yards on two catches against the Titans this year.

Match Against the Defense: The Titans rushing defense had been outstanding this year but over the last three games have surrendered six rushing scores. But - the Texans are trying to use Green again and Ron Dayne on the road is unlikely to do much anyway. Expect some marginal yardage but likely no score.

Schaub was waxed by the Titans the first time but the Texans have improved and the Titans have declined. Look for a better effort this week but only one score and moderate passing yards. The Titans secondary is good and looking to make a stand here after several bad games.

TE Bo Scaife   50
WR Justin Gage   60,1
WR Eric Moulds   20
WR Roydell Williams   40
PK Rob Bironas 1 FG 3 XP

Pregame Notes: The Titans were flying high at 6-2 but the last three games have the team struggling to remain in the hunt for a wild card. Oddly enough, Vince Young has never passed better than in those last three losses but the rushing game has also taken a major nosedive in those games and that spells doom for an offense predicated on ball control and running the ball. The rest of the schedule is no cakewalk, but with three home games left, the Titans should secure the wildcard by winning at least two of them and then a road trip to Kansas City. The worst game is the finale in Indianapolis but it may not matter by then for either team.

Quarterback: Vince Young has finally become a passer but his big yardage games have all resulted in losses. For three weeks now, he has remained at or above 250 passing yards but only scored two passing touchdowns and has thrown five interceptions and lost a fumble. He had his season high of 11 rushes for 74 yards and a score in Denver but then followed that up with only two runs for six yards in Cincinnati.

This week is a chance for Young to get back on track in a home game against an opponent he knows well.

Collins was the starter in the first meeting with the Texans and threw for 280 yards and no scores.

Running Backs: Lendale White was on fire for three straight games with over 100 rushing yards in each and two rushing scores in that time. But in the last three weeks against much tougher opponents, he has languished with minimal yardage and no scores. Fortunately, the start of that hot streak was when he gained 104 yards and one score in Houston this year while Chris Brown tacked on 26 more yards on five carries and also scored once. Look for the rushing game to get back on track this week.

Chris Henry has accepted his suspension and will be gone until week 16.

Wide Receivers: During the three game passing explosion, the wideouts did not have big games individually except for Justin Gage who has emerged as the top Titans receiver with 17 catches for 254 yards and a score during those games. He has taken over the flanker role and Brandon Jones now returns punts.

Mike Williams has been signed and since he now weighs 271 pounds, the Titans are considering giving him a shot as a tight end/H-back.

Roydell Williams gained 124 yards on five catches against the Texans this year while no other wideout had more than 48 yards.

Tight Ends: Bo Scaife continues as the primary tight end and has been gaining around 30 to 40 yards in most games but no Titans tight ends have scored this season.

Scaife turned in six catches for 49 yards in Houston this year.

Match Against the Defense: The Texans rushing defense is their soft spot and the Titans need a nice, controlled win so expect a good effort here by LenDale White who already logged over 100 yards and a score against the Texans earlier this year.

Young has passed more than every but all the Titans got back was three losses. Expect lower passing numbers here in a game that the Titans will dominate via the run. Young should throw for one score which could go anywhere. The Texans are very soft against tight ends but Scaife has yet to score.
