Prediction: BUF 10, NYJ 24

Update: As expected, Trent Edwards is not expected to play and Losman will get the start which makes the loss more likely. Laveranues Coles is questionable with a thigh injury and was limited in all practices but as always will likely play and deliver substandard numbers .

The Bills look to stop a two game losing streak and are only 3-3 in road games this year. The Jets are 4-2 at home and already won 26-17 in Buffalo back in week nine. Jets gotta win to stay in the race for the division and the Bills are only three games away from spending months wondering where it all went so horribly wrong.

Pregame Notes: The big win in Kansas City is the only reason the Bills have lost seven in a row. After starting 5-1 they have gone 1-6 and in the last two weeks - at home - they posted just three points per game. Ouch. Chances are good that Dick Jauron's explanation falls on deaf ears as he is packing boxes in January.

When asked if the head coach would be back in 2009, owner Ralph Wilson displayed his loyalty and confidence when he said "I don't know".

Quarterback: Trent Edwards has a stained groin and missed practice and the game last week. That left J.P. Losman behind to somehow fail to score a single touchdown on the visiting Dolphins. He passed for only 123 yards and completed just 13 of 27 passes. Barring a recovery of Edwards during the week, I am projecting for another week of Losman.

Edwards passed for 289 yards and one touchdown against the Jets in week nine. He also had two interceptions and lost a fumble.

Running Backs: Marshawn Lynch rolled up 31 yards on 13 carries against the visiting Fins last week but that is not the worst he has done this season Lynch only gained 16 yards on nine carries against the Jets this year. He added three receptions for 52 yards. This time he will be on the road when he faces the Jets defense. Lynch has been a huge disappointment this year as has the entire offense.

Wide Receivers: There has been no wideout here other than Lee Evans worthy of a fantasy start and even Evans has been nothing more than a risky WR3 to use. He does have four games with more than 80 yards and he even had a three week scoring streak back before midseason but in this six week free fall lately, he has only had two decent games against soft secondaries -SF and KC - and yet had no catches against the Browns. He's a big risk at best and has not scored in eight weeks.

Evans had four catches for 41 yards against the Jets this year.

Tight Ends: Marginal stats at best and rarely more than one catch. But Robert Royal caught five passes for 70 yards and the rookie Derek Fine had 43 yards on four receptions and one score against the Jets. It was the freak one game where the tight ends mattered.

Match Against the Defense: The Bills already lost to the Jets in Buffalo which was right at the start of the Bills implosion. Losman will be a worse quarterback, Lynch is not better running and played in New York against a hungry Jets teams means shying away from everyone on this team. I'll credit Losman with a touchdown but there is no reason why the Bills cannot extend into three weeks with barely a score.

Pregame Notes: The loss to the 49ers was bad not just because they were caught overlooking them but because the Bills had done the same thing just the previous week. The Jets remain tied for first place though and with the easiest final stretch of the three contending teams. It appears that the AFC East is like a world to itself this year - they all look competitive playing each other but they all get knocked off when they start to stray outside the East.

Quarterback: Brett Favre should be someone who gets better as the season grows older and colder but so far, not true. Favre hasn't thrown a score in the last two weeks and his 137 yards in San Francisco is a season low. Favre also passed for 201 yards in Buffalo with no score back in week nine as well. With tie breakers a possible need to determine a division champ, the Jets need all the advantage they can get and one is total score.

Running Backs: It waited until the long side of his career but Thomas Jones finally has the look of a first round draft pick from nine years ago. It only took Jones until he finally turned 30 to be a bona fide stud (but remember the 30 part next summer). Jones has 14 touchdowns on the season with almost all coming in the last seven games. He is spitting out 100 yard games and even serving as a receiver. He already has 1144 rushing yards and and only needs around 200 more to secure a career high.

Jones rushed for 69 yards on 12 carries and scored once against the Bills this year. He added 38 yards on six catches as well.

Wide Receivers: the passing game woes as of late have eliminated all fantasy value here but at least there is rumors that the unkind words that Laveranues Coles had about Brett Favre last week was just a joke. Coles is no doubt not happy with three catches for seven yards over the last two weeks but is recanting any notion that he unhappy.

Jerricho Cotchery has fared only marginally better but neither of these wideouts are reliable enough for any fantasy start.

Cotchery led all receivers for the Jets when he had 62 yards on six catches in Buffalo. Coles was limited to three receptions for 40 yards.

Tight Ends: As a sign of how badly last week went against the 49ers, even Dustin Keller only had two catches for 14 yards. He is much more consistent around 70 yards in recent games though.

Keller only had two catches for 10 yards in Buffalo.

Match Against the Defense: These teams met only six weeks ago but in that time the Jets have become better and the Bill are a whole lot worse. I like Jones to have a solid game here that may turn big. 100 yards and a score should be the minimum.

Favre goes against a secondary that can be beaten and there are reasons why the Jets will want to score as much as they can. Look for at least one passing score that could be two if Jones does not rush it in. I like a tight end or Washington to score since the wideouts are just not connecting with Favre lately.
