IDP Dynasty Watch is a weekly article that normally looks at players values for the future (2-4 years). Also, a player doesn’t have to be a rookie or second year guy to be included but as often as possible I will be focusing on younger players. However, with that said there are plenty of 30+ year old players that are productive into their mid thirties and would be viable dynasty watch candidates under the correct circumstances. However, for this week I have put together a dynasty ranking for linebackers.
There are a few things to consider when looking at this set of Dynasty Rankings:
- I do not expect Angelo Crowell to remain with the Bills and am not as worried about the scheme he lands in since he has been productive from all 3 LB positions (MLB, SLB & WLB). I would not be shocked to see him end up in a place like Denver where he could play MLB or in Kansas City where he can end up at any of the three LB spots (I expect Derrick Johnson to stay at MLB).
- Mike Peterson will not be back in Jacksonville next year and I expect him to land a starting MLB or WLB spot where he should be productive for a couple of more years at least.
- I don’t expect to see James Harrison or DeMarcus Ware repeat the season they are having this year and they rely so much on sacks that I just can’t see ranking them any higher in this scoring system.
- Keep in mind the tackle heavy scoring system used for these rankings: solo tackle (2), assisted tackle (1), sack (3), forced or recovered fumble (3), interception (3) and pass defensed (1).
