The Ease of Schedule is about taking the results from all defensive performances last season and then applying the stats allowed against quarterbacks, running backs and receivers to determine who will have the easier schedule. This is determined by taking the best and worst match-ups for teams and awarding then either a good or a bad game - or just neutral.

In making this as accurate as can be using stats from the previous season, starting last season the difference is that no longer are the "good" and "bad" matchups related to a team. They are now related to both team and venue. The reality is that many teams play much differently on the road than they do at home. What the Ease of Schedule has done is to take each NFL defense and consider them as two separate entities. One on the road and the other at home. In some cases, it did not matter - both were great for a team (or really bad). In others, it certainly did. Taking the eight home games and eight road games, each had their highest and lowest games removed to eliminate uncharacteristic extremes. Then the per game average fantasy points allowed were determined from the six remaining home and six remaining road games. From a total set of 64 possibilities (32 defenses both home and away), the best and worst 16 matchups were used.

This is the most accurate picture of defenses from last year - hands down. While regular season EOS will not split them out because of a lack of adequate sample size, the preseason EOS considered venue in addition to the defense - it makes a difference. This is more accurate than any other you will find.

Three different views are given below - Weeks 1 to 6 show what players will face as they start the season. Weeks 1 through 16 are shown for a full season view and weeks 14 to 16 show the most common weeks for fantasy playoffs. Below that is the NFL schedule marked for each team to show when they have good (green) or bad (red) match-ups.

i guess you went by how many ff ponts were scored by a certain position against a certain defense.....but how can the chicago defense by ranked 18th in touchdowns allowed and 30th in yards allowed and still be a red game this year http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?a rchive=false&conference=null&rol e=OPP&offensiveStatisticCategory=nul l&defensiveStatisticCategory=TEAM_PA SSING&season=2008&seasonType=REG &tabSeq=2&qualified=true&Sub mit=Go ...........that's where all the points come from in my league (yards and touchdowns)

i dont understand this...last year the bears, browns, and vikings were in the bottom half of the league (or close) in passing yds allowed last year so why are they all considerd RED games THIS year....and why are bye games red??????????

last year this ease of schedule format said that san diego had the worst passing schedule but river ended up have a great year...just wondering if this format is very helpful in predicting how a player will plaY in a given year...
I am big on trying to figure out who has a tough schedule and who has an easy schedule but there appear to be flaws in THIS way of figuring that out......I know no system is perfect , but what's up with the bears pass defense last year ranked 30th in the league and saying the bears will be a tough game this year based on last year's stats??????????????????????

You have to love the ARI schedule this year and FF playoffs wind down with @SF and @DET? No doubt that will be a boon for those angling for the league championship.

From what I see looks like players from AZ would be a solid at the end of the season. sf, det, and st l. Warner, Fitzgerald, Boldin, Wells (health), Breaston too? Maybe against those soft defenses. What do you think DMD?

Interesting idea but we're going to have a new EOS every week during the regular season. Plus all my projections consider these as well. Lemee see what we end up with.

Hey DMD, how about putting the three (QBs, RBs, WRs/TEs)
2008 Best 16/Worst 16 Matchups in one place vertically so
it'll easily printed. Those three combined, read before any given
NFL Sunday will be instrumental in helping Huddle subscribers
in making weekly fantasy football lineup decisions for their team(s).

If you like this, wait until early August for something even more interesting...

Hey DD....looking forward to this year!

Im a big fan of the EOS......youll always find little gems.....like how the formula feels the Bears are easier on the road than at home.

Something I didnt know

The Dorey Rule is draft as if the season only lasted the first six weeks. It attempts to get you the most advantageous matchups those first six weeks so you get a hot start to the season, plus those will be the most accurately predictable weeks of the season.
