Below lists out each notable running back who played at least eight games and their categories list the number of games in which they had at least the stated topic. The consistency rating comes from the number of times where they had either a 100 total yards game and/or a touchdown game, all divided by the number of games that they played.
The Column for "Either" shows how many times they had either 100 total yards and/or a touchdown game.

It was obvious that 2008 was to be the year of the rookie running back. What was less obvious was that Matt Forte was going to be used so much that he ranked as the most consistent fantasy tailback last year despite only only gaining 3.9 yards per carry ( the league leading 63 catches proved crucial). LaDainian Tomlinson seemed like such a terrible disappointment but really was one of the best - just maybe not worthy of that #1 draft slot and his week 17 stats really pumped up his final stats. Steve Slaton, Michael Turner and DeAngelo Williams all took their first turns in the NFL as starters to turn in surprisingly consistent numbers.
Perhaps not surprising was the high number of the best running backs who did not play a full 16 game season. That's why drafting early and often for running backs will never change.
